Sustainability

Grande bosco verde
Sustainability measures how available resources are used: a process is sustainable if resources are used at a rate that allows them to naturally regenerate, thus lasting over time.

Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development

A concrete example of Veritas’s commitment to promoting sustainable development is the management of the waste cycle. Materials collected through separate collection are then transformed into secondary raw materials for the production of new objects, while the residual dry waste is converted into SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel), a material used to generate electricity, thus reducing the use of other raw materials.

Waste Traceability

To make its waste management transparent, Veritas Group has developed three tools able to picture the current situation of companies in the waste industry and respond to European circular economy goals:

  • Treatment Framework:
it defines what is actually sent to recovery and what is sent to disposal (authorized landfills).
  • Traceability of municipal waste flows recovery:
it defines the actual recovery of separately collected waste.
  • Quality of separate collections: it measures the quality of the different waste fractions and measures errors in waste disposal by users.

Our Code of Ethics

Supplier Code of Conduct

Among its primary objectives, Veritas protects the territory, environment, and common goods, aiming at preserving environmental resources for the benefit of all. It considers essential to purchase what is necessary for a sustainable and responsible management of public services and production processes, from suppliers who share the company's objectives of legality, integrity, transparency, protection and inclusion of people, as well as respect for workplace safety. To this end, inspired by the principles expressed in its Code of Ethics and Organizational Model, the Company has adopted the Supplier Code of Conduct, which describes requirements and expectations for all suppliers to meet, in a perspective of continuous improvement.

Certifications

Veritas adopts business processes based on principles of quality and maximum transparency toward the outside world, especially users. The organizational models applied aim to achieve two objectives:

  • prevent and hinder behaviours that are contrary to the law;
  • provide the highest possible quality of activities and services.

To achieve these goals, Veritas applies quality and environmental management systems through a gradual certification program. These systems have led to a different approach in managing business processes, not only complying with legal obligations but also increasingly investing in human capital, environment, and relationships with local communities.

Today, Veritas holds ISO 9001/2015 and ISO 14001/2015 certifications for Integrated Water Service, Environmental Services, and Cemetery Services divisions. Veritas and its subsidiary Eco+Eco have obtained ISO 37001 certification for anti-corruption. Certification bodies periodically conduct audits at company sites, monitoring services.

Veritas Group is daily committed to protecting the environment and its own human capital, stimulating growth and innovation in the use of resources, and safeguarding the health and well-being of the population and employees. These efforts are carried out together with municipal administrations and institutions, which, together with Veritas, assume the responsibility for properly and respectfully managing the environment and the regulations. The challenges are complex and require effective approaches to address new and emerging issues, with a perspective of continuous improvement and the awareness that sustainability should not be a final goal but a constant equilibrium.
