Water quality

Drinking water supplied by Veritas is mostly groundwater, drawn from wells reaching a depth of 300 meters. It is among the best in Italy in terms of quality and characteristics, economical, carefully monitored, and safe. It does not travel across Italy by truck (it is zero km) and does not require bottles or packaging for transport, therefore it produces no waste. To have it, always fresh, you simply need to open a tap. Italians, on the other hand, are the largest consumers of mineral water in the world.

The drinking water from our taps is carefully monitored

The Veritas company laboratory analyzes one million parameters each year on 50,000 samples: pH, total organic carbon (T.O.C.), cyanide, turbidity, ammonium, color, free and total residual chlorine, dry residue at 180°C, and checks conductivity, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, hardness, and aggressiveness index. The presence of microorganisms and pollutants such as, for example, organohalogen compounds, metals (including arsenic), and pesticides is subject to in-depth analysis. All parameters comply with legal limits.

The quality of Veritas water is also monitored by Arpav and the competent USLs, which are responsible – through the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service – for determining potability.

The company laboratory has to date received 800 samples collected at various points of the public aqueduct, on which 12,353 analyses of 30 individual fluorinated compounds have been carried out.

The water quality is independently monitored by Arpav and the competent USLs, which are responsible – through the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service – for determining potability. Monitoring is carried out at the various stages of the water cycle, from the source to the distribution network, with continuous monitoring performed by a centralized telematic system.

Veritas’ integrated water service is certified according to the UNI EN ISO 9001/2015 standard for service quality and the UNI EN ISO 14001/2015 standard for environmental management.

Furthermore, the Laboratory is accredited according to the European standard UNI CEI EN ISO IEC 17025 with accreditation number 00191 issued by Accredia. The accreditation certificate can be downloaded from the following link by entering accreditation number 00191.
The list of tests is available on the website www.accredia.it

The analyses carried out confirm the excellent quality of the water coming from our taps.

How much does a liter of water cost

One liter of water supplied by Veritas costs approximately 0.0015 euros, 1,000 times less than a half-liter bottle of mineral water purchased in a bar.

The tariff is used to cover the costs of management and the integrated water service (water, sewerage, and purification). It is also used to fund the maintenance of networks and plants and to ensure necessary investments in such a delicate and unique territory in which Veritas operates.

The integrated water service tariff is calculated by the Venice Lagoon Basin Council according to criteria defined by Arera, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks, and Environment. The average tariff currently applied by Veritas is well below the national and regional average.

Except in cases of thermal or medicinal waters, mineral water therefore has no tangible advantages; the only real difference is our taste. Like many drinking waters, the water distributed by Veritas is disinfected with sodium hypochlorite, which ensures hygiene. To remove odor and taste, simply let tap water rest for a few tens of minutes in an open pitcher before consuming.
